Cougars trade defenceman Tyrone Sobry to Saskatoon
PRINCE GEORGE —The Prince George Cougars have traded overage defenceman Tyrone Sobry to the Saskatoon Blades in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2028 WHL Prospects Draft.
Cougars General Manager and Head Coach Mark Lamb said the move was made because the club currently has a surplus of overage players on its roster. Lamb praised Sobry’s performance during his time in Prince George and noted the trade gives the Saskatoon native a better opportunity to earn playing time with his hometown team.
“We were very happy with how Tyrone performed for the Cougars, but we currently have a surplus of over-agers on our roster,” Lamb said in a statement. “He’s going back to his hometown of Saskatoon with a better chance to play, so we’re happy about that.”
The Cougars expressed their appreciation for Sobry’s contributions and wished him success with the Blades.
