PRINCE GEORGE —Lara Beckett is seeking re-election as Electoral Area Director for Area C, Chilako River-Nechako, in the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.

Beckett has represented the area on the Regional Board for the past five terms and served as Board Chair during the most recent term. She has lived in the Chilako area for 28 years and has a background in biology, environmental studies, forestry practices and policy development. Beckett holds a degree in Biology and Environmental Studies from the University of Victoria.

In announcing her candidacy, Beckett said her top priority remains integrating climate change adaptation and mitigation into Regional District policies and services. She says the effects of climate change need to be considered in a wide range of decisions, including protecting agricultural land, improving food security, preparing for emergencies, reducing solid waste and supporting a circular economy.

Beckett says she is committed to continuing her work on behalf of residents throughout Area C, which stretches from Miworth to Norman Lake and from Beaverly to the Blackwater region.
