The league added that teams invested heavily in improving broadcast quality during that period, including enhanced productions, additional content, intermission features and new camera angles.

While the WHL expressed disappointment over the uncertainty surrounding Victory Plus, Near said the experience demonstrated the value of making games easily accessible to fans.

For Prince George Cougars supporters, the change means games will remain available to stream for free, just on a different platform.

The WHL says broadcast production standards will remain unchanged as it transitions to YouTube and more details about the new streaming arrangement will be released before the start of the regular season.
