BC NDP names Bourque candidate in Prince George-Valemount

PRINCE GEORGE — The BC NDP has nominated longtime public-sector worker Carol Bourque as its candidate for Prince George-Valemount in the October 24 provincial election.

Bourque, a Prince George native, will challenge incumbent Conservative MLA Rosalyn Bird, who was first elected in 2024. The riding has traditionally been considered a centre-right stronghold, and the NDP has never won a provincial election in Prince George-Valemount.

In announcing her candidacy, Bourque focused heavily on healthcare, drawing on more than three decades of public-sector experience, including 14 years working in Health Information Management with Northern Health.

“I’m stepping forward because our communities deserve practical solutions, honest leadership, and a healthcare system that works for everyone,” Bourque said in a statement released by the party. “I’ve spent my career inside the system, now I’m ready to help fix it.”
