Ash Falling From Wildfires To The West

PRINCE GEORGE- A thin layer of ash is covering the city today and accompanied by the wildfire smoke… it can be a scary sight. Air Quality Meteorologist, Gail Roth, says our air quality is being affected by fires to the west of the city. Roth adds the ash isn’t a health risk as the particles are too large to enter the respiratory system. However, it is the fine particulates from wildfire smoke that has our air quality at a high health risk.  She says we may see some relief over the weekend as a small amount of precipitation and wind is expected.  The air quality in the city has forced many to take their exercise inside. If you notice difficulty breathing or coughing, consider avoiding strenuous outdoor activity until the air quality improves.
