UNBC Students Get Help From Therapy Dogs
PRINCE GEORGE- This afternoon, students at UNBC got to take an hour to spend with a few furry friends. The free event let students interact with therapy dogs to combat some pre-test stress. The dogs undergo 32 hours of training to become certified therapy dogs. They help people in all kinds of high-stress situations. “It’s so rewarding to get out and to help the students, and volunteer at retirement homes or in the hospitals, we went last summer and worked with the evacuees from the wildfires,” said dog trainer, Nicole Megyesi. “The dogs are just so accepting and they love unconditionally so it’s great to just have them around.”
Students celebrated the last day of classes last week, but they still have exams to do. Typically, university students write four or five exams a semester.
