Fraser Flooding Fears

PRINCE GEORGE – A close eye is being kept on the Fraser River as more flooding is anticipated.

The sunny and hot temperatures over the province are now melting the deep snowpack rapidly,  causing concern for those living along the low lying areas of the river.

B-C’s River Forecast Centre Officials are concerned the Fraser River could rise rapidly over the next week or two, warning the high stream flow advisory through the upper Fraser River has the potential to reach flood stage or above in the Prince George and Quesnel areas by this weekend.

The City has activated its Emergency Operations Centre and closed down several local parks including parts of Cottonwood Island and Paddlewheel Park.
