The Best Plants To Feed The Bees
PRINCE GEORGE – Her philosophy is food for us is food them. CNC Biology instructor Jennifer Catherall is hoping to get audience members buzzing tonight as she discusses the declining bee population at The Exploration Place. Hosted by the Prince George Naturalists Club, Catherall has some gardening tips to help feed the bees.
“Bees love mint, and oregano, and basil when they come to bloom, as well as if you enjoy growing tomatoes, or zucchinis, or peppers, the flowers from those plants as well require bees to pollinate them to have the best pollination possible, and you’ll be feeding bees too, and having a tomato in the end,” says Jennifer Catherall, CNC Biology instructor.
Colours also factor in. Catherall explains that bees don’t perceive the colours red and burgundy very well, so it’s best to plant your garden with purple, yellow, or orange flora.
Catherall’s presentation on native bees will be held at 7 pm tonight.
