PRINCE GEORGE – For many, people growing their own food it sometimes helps them to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables.  There’re just over 100 students that attend Ecole Franco-Nord. And each week some students have the opportunity to taste foods grown locally and from a school garden.  With support from the Farm to Cafeteria program, Franco-Nord has seen its food program grow.

According to the Organization Farm to Cafeteria, children who take time to eat what they grow in school can lead to better nutrition and have the energy to learn. Farm to Cafeteria Canada says over 11 hundred schools across the country have taken advantage of its program. Ecole Franco-Nord is the first elementary school in Prince George area to be part of a growing trend across Canada.
