PRINCE GEORGE – A female student at the College of New Caledonia has been killed after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 97 Wednesday afternoon. The 47-year-old driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene for allegedly driving while impaired.

Police responded to the incident at 4:41 pm after receiving several calls about the serious pedestrian collision between 18th and 22nd Avenue.  The victim was transported to University Hospital of Northern BC where she succumbed to her injuries.

Mounties closed the highway for several hours to investigate the fatal crash.

“Our first thoughts go out to the student’s family, to whom we offer our sincerest condolences,” said CNC President Henry Reiser.  “We also grieve with those closest to this student, including roommates, friends, classmates and instructors who were with them during their time on campus.”
