Northern Health Warning on Algae Bloom

Jul 2, 2018 | 8:01 AM

PRINCE GEORGE – Northern Health is issuing a warning to residents to be on the lookout for blue-green algae in area lakes this summer.

With the warming weather, the naturally occurring blooms may be appearing in lakes, and look similar to scum, grass clippings, fuzz or globs on the surface of the water.

Those who come in contact with the algae could suffer a number of symptoms from skin irritation to fever and nausea.

Northern Health also recommends to not drink the water from any area lake that has an algae bloom.
