CNC Making A Difference Scrub Fundraiser
PRINCE GEORGE – CNC’s Health Sciences department is holding its biannual scrubs fundraiser on Friday to raise money for its Making a Difference bursary. The department takes gently used scrubs and sells them for $5.00 to students and other community members.
Now in the seventh year, the scrub sale has raised over $10,000.00 which has benefitted 37 health sciences, students. The bursary awards $250.00 to students who demonstrate the qualities of a good health care provider.
“It’s based on skills and attributes that we want to instill in the next professional. So the faculty members will screen the applicants from each of the departments and select a student who demonstrates professionalism, honesty, integrity, giving back to the community, teamwork… those attributes, in addition to the financial need,” says Nancy Esopenko, who is an instructor in the Northern Collaborative Baccalaureate Nursing Program at CNC.
Scrub donations are accepted year-round at the CNC library or Spirit of the North Health Care Foundation office at UHNBC. The fundraiser is on Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at CNC’s main campus.
