PRINCE GEORGE – -The Parliamentary Secretary for the Minister of Transport, Terry Beech, was on hand at the Prince George Airport today with a commitment of $2.3 million in funding for improvements to runway 01-19.

A quick drive down that runway shows significant disrepair, with weeds growing through the concrete. The short stretch of runway creates a loop for aircraft and is currently used by commercial airlines and the Forest Service planes.

The money is part of a $4.7 million project to re-build the runway.

“Transportation systems are a vital part of Prince George’s economy and the investment announced here today will foster long-term prosperity for the city. These improvements to the Prince George Airport will increase transportation options for the community while helping businesses get more products to market.”
