Mike Morris Mystified By Protest

PRINCE GEORGE – Protests popped up all over the city today, in support of a blockade of Coast Gas Link’s access to the planned site of a pipeline from the Dawson Creek area to a plant in Kitimat. The actions are disappointing to Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Mike Morris.

“We’re talking about a $40 billion liquified natural gas plant, but we’re also talking about a $12 billion pipeline,” he says. “It does send a mixed message. This government has not committed firmly to any resource project in British Columbia.”

But to see images of current Forests Minister Doug Donaldson at the blockade on social media has him shaking his head.

“To have the minister attend the scene of a protest like that, where there’s a court order, saying that the protest site has to be dismantled by the RCMP,  is despicable. He’s contravening the permits that his own ministry has issued, to have this pipeline put through.”
