PRINCE GEORGE – A study on precision radiation involving local physicians and cancer patients is about to be released to the international medical community through the medical journal “The Lancet”.

Local oncologist Dr. Rob Olson worked with a team of researchers to make a ground-breaking discovery in cancer treatment.
The study involved using precise radiation with higher doses instead of surgery or chemotherapy, and it was found to improve survival rates.

Dr. Olson is now looking to launch a third phase of the trial,  and the BC Cancer Centre for the North is taking the lead.  It involves upgrades to the current radiation machines and the addition of staff members,  and he’s looking to raise 1.75 million dollars in funding from the community.

The findings of the trial were accepted by the medical journal, with the published article expected within the next couple of months.
