CNC celebrates Black History Month
PRINCE GEORGE – February is significant for many people because of Valentine’s Day, but this month is important for another important reason.
February is Black History Month and offers a chance to honour the legacy of black Canadians, past and present. The College of New Caledonia is joining in the celebration for the 22nd year in a row.
The College will be hosting an Afro-Fusion Dinner and Dance to bring people together. Proceeds from the event will go towards the CNC Black History Committee Endowment Bursary.
Canada has taken steps to recognize the role of black people in our nation’s history, placing viola desmond’s likeness on the ten dollar bill. The Month provides people of colour an opportunity to remember their heritage and role in Canada’s History.
