Picture this: It's October 24, 2023, and I'm at Disneyland, fully immersed in the Halloween spirit. Being a huge fan of both Halloween and Disney, this moment is beyond magical for me. The sun is shining brightly on this Tuesday morning as we stroll into the park, filled with excitement for the day ahead. I can hardly wait to experience the Nightmare Before Christmas takeover of the Haunted Mansion – something I've been eagerly anticipating for what feels like forever.

But instead of rushing straight to the Haunted Mansion, I find myself in line with my boyfriend Justin, his parents, sister, brother-in-law, and niece. We're all eagerly waiting to snap some family photos with Winky Blinky, that massive Mickey Jack-o'-lantern on Main Street. Even though I'm itching to head to the Haunted Mansion, I keep an eye on the wait time, knowing it's bound to get crazy busy during this time of year.

Little did I know, Justin and his sister were cooking up a surprise plan. As we wait, Justin's dad takes a quick coffee break. With just a few families ahead of us, Justin's mom suggests we take the photos without him if he's not back in time. But Justin and his sister are determined – we'll hold our spot and let others go ahead until he returns.

Then, just when we think things couldn't get more chaotic, Justin's brother-in-law dashes off. His mom starts hinting again that we should move forward without them if they don't show up soon. But Justin and his sister stand firm, promising to wait it out. Meanwhile, I'm torn between my eagerness to hit up the Haunted Mansion and the unfolding drama right before my eyes.

Finally, with everyone back in line just in the nick of time, we snap some family group shots on one side of Winky Blinky. Then, Justin and I sneak over to the other side for a couple of photos. As the photographer starts wrapping things up, Justin asks for one more photo and proceeds to drop to one knee, catching me completely off guard. He pulls out my dream ring and pops the question, right there in the heart of Disneyland, amidst the Halloween magic.

The proposal catches not just me, but also his parents’ completely off guard. It turns out, Justin had entrusted his sister with the ring and the task of keeping the entire plan under wraps. It was their collaboration that ensured the moment remained a secret until the very last second.

Of course, I said Yes! I couldn’t believe it—the most magical place on earth, with my incredible boyfriend asking me to marry him. It was truly a day I will never forget, and the best day ever! And in case anyone was wondering, we went straight to the Haunted Mansion as a newly engaged couple.
