The Cariboo-Prince George riding has been represented in the House of Commons since 2004. Since that time, the riding has been held by the Conservatives – Dick Harris from 2004 to 2015 and Todd Doherty from 2015 to present. The closest a competing candidate has come to claiming the riding was in 2015, when the Liberal Party’s Tracy Calogheros captured 31 per cent of the vote, about 5 per cent less than Conservative winner, Todd Doherty. In the most recent federal election in 2021, Doherty won the riding handily, capturing 51 per cent of the vote, which worked out to more than 15,000 votes more than the NDP candidate who finished second in the riding.
