The Spruce Kings could not have asked for a better start in their series against the Chilliwack Chiefs. After a game one blowout of the Chiefs, the Kings then followed it up with a much closer 3-2 win last night in Chilliwack.

Ben Poisson opened the scoring early in the first for the Kings, netting his fifth of the postseason just three minutes into the game. Chilliwack’s Harrison Blaisdell then tied things up 10 minutes later with his second of the playoffs.

The end of the first saw a 1-1 tie with the Kings outshooting the Chiefs by a 9-6 margin. The Kings then got an early power-play goal in the second from Max Coyle to break the tie. Nicholas Poisson’s third of the playoffs stretched the kings lead to 3-1 halfway through the second.

Kevin Wall got one back for Chilliwack with five minutes to play in the second and the Kings held a 3-2 lead after two periods of play but that would be as close as Chilliwack would come as the third period was scoreless for either side.
