PRINCE GEORGE — A new study is set to take off looking at the impacts of the Cannabis Act on motor vehicle collision injuries involving young people and cannabis-impaired driving.
Dr. Russ Callaghan, with the Northern Medical Program, will examine data from emergency departments across Canada finding the effects of legalizing recreational cannabis on injury patterns among youth and young adults involved in motor vehicle collisions. His team will include collaborations with Dalhousie University and the University of Victoria.
The research is being supported through a Canadian Institutes of Health Reasearch grant totalling $124,000. Results are expected by the end of the year, around Christmas.
