Limited edition rescue brew for a good cause

PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Humane Society and Trench Brewing & Distilling have teamed up in support of a good cause. Trench Brewing has a limited edition rescue brew available, with partial proceeds going towards the Humane Society.

The rescue brews are described as an extra special bitter, traditional English ale with malt tones of caramel and biscuit. Each can features either a cat or a dog, and can be purchased at Trench Brewing or at select liquor stores in town.

Angela McLaren, Executive Director at the PG Humane Society says that she had the idea to approach Trench Brewing with a rescue brew, and they were quick to agree.

McLaren says, “.we had a fundraiser that we had been planning with Trench that we had to cancel, and when I met with them I said ‘well, this is an alternative, something we can do,’ and Trench didn’t even hesitate.”

The initial fundraiser needed to be cancelled due to COVID-19, says McLaren. However, the Humane Society still had a need to raise money for the animals, regardless of the pandemic.

Bailey Hoefels at Trench Brewing & Distilling says, “we’re all animal lovers at Trench, so the owning staff, the operating team, everybody’s a big animal lover. And then once COVID hit we knew that that would probably be the best way we could support the charities in town.”

A dollar from every 4 pack or 50 cents from every pint of the extra special bitter goes towards the PG Humane Society. Trench Brewing held a fundraiser on Saturday as well to launch the rescue brew,
