Spruce Kings secure 10th win of season over Centennials Friday

MERRITT — In a back-and-forth thrilling game Friday evening, the Prince George Spruce Kings came away with a win over the Merritt Centennials.

Winning 7-5 on the road, the Spruce Kings secured their 10th win of the season at Nicola Valley Memorial Arena.

In rapid-scoring fashion with a fast pace, the game eventually came down to the final period as PG’s Evan Fedele put them ahead by one with less than 10 minutes remaining.

After Merritt pulled their goalie, the Spruce Kings put the game away solidifying the win with an empty-net by Kilian McGregor-Bennett.

PG Goalie Jordan Fairlie stopped 23 of the 28 shots he faced on the night but on the other end, Merritt’s Conor Sullivan made 38 saves on 45 shots.

The win improves PG’s record to 10-5-1-1 while the Centennials see their record drop to 5-10-2-0.

The Spruce Kings hit the ice next on Wednesday when they play host to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs at Kopar Memorial Arena at 7:00 PM.
