Spruce Kings fall to Smoke Eaters in final regular season meeting
PRINCE GEORGE — Defensive woes for the Prince George Spruce Kings in Saturday night’s game (Feb.4) turned out to be the difference maker as they fell to the Trail Smoke Eaters 6-3.
Ty Gagno opened the scoring for the Spruce Kings, marking his 11th of the campaign. The Smoke Eaters would answer back just over a minute later as Ethan Mann ties the game up at one heading into the first intermission.
The second period saw the Smoke Eaters break loose, scoring three goals in under 2:30. Nicolas Remissong would add another goal for his club making it 5-1 early in the second. Kilian McGregor-Bennett and Amran Bhabra would get on the board for the Spruce Kings in the second and third period.
However, it would not be enough to make a comeback as the Spruce Kings lose their fourth road game out of their last five. The Spruce Kings now sit tied for fourth place with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks at 20-16-2-1 on the season.
