It was a busy day of donations at the College of New Caledonia today. Dillon Adey’s family started with the donation of a special micro-pipette to the biology lab. But that wasn’t all, the Adey family also donated an advanced catheter to the School of Nursing, a photo lighting kit to media services, a curing light to Dental Services and a rowing machine to CNC’s weight room. The Adey’s son, Dillon was killed in a crash on June 1, 2009. Since then, the family has donated $180,000 worth of equipment to various departments. “It’s an emotional for the family. It would have been Dillon’s 30th birthday today,” says Perry Adey. “It’s good to help the kids. We started out with just the business bursary, but the golf tournament has gone so well that we now [hand out] four to five [bursaries] to health science students every year for a thousand dollars each. We spent anywhere from $5,000 to $14,000 on equipment.” That equipment goes to every different department at CNC, which was Dillon’s school.
