Northern Health is urging residents to get their flu shots, with various locations offering the vaccine. Influenza is a respiratory infection  caused by a virus. It spreads easily from person to person through coughing, sneezing, or face-to face contact. Symptoms of the flu are similar to a cold, though last much longer. They include:
    Fever
    Headache
    Muscle pain
    Runny nose
    Sore throat
    Extreme tiredness
    Cough

The elderly and children and those with a compromised immune system are most at risk of getting the flu. According to Northern Health, about 1,400 people in B.C. die from influenza and complications of influenza, such as pneumonia, every year. For locations where you can get your flu shot, click here
