What a difference a day makes. After dropping a lopsided decision to the number one ranked University of Regina Cougars Friday, the UNBC Lady T-Wolves shocked the Cougars with a thrilling 81 – 79 victory Saturday at the Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre.

The Cougars looked to be on their way to another win when they opened up a 46 – 35 lead at the half.  But the Timberwolves stormed back in the third quarter.  Maria Mongomo scored a dozen point while the defence stood tall, allowing only seven points.  The turnaround allowed UNBC to carry a four point lead into the final quarter.

But the Cougars showed their strength in the final 10 minutes, opening up an eight point lead with only about two minutes remaining in the game.  But there was no quit in the T-Wolves.  And when Mongomo hit a key shot with 50 seconds left, UNBC took the lead for good.

Mongomo led all scorers with 33 points. Kyanna Giles had 19 to lead the Cougars with 19 who fell to 5-1.  The Timberwolves improved to 3-5.
