PRINCE GEORGE— April 30 is Adopt-a-Shelter-Pet-Day and the BC SPCA is celebrating by offering 50 per cent off adoption fees starting this Thursday though to Sunday, May 5. In addition BC SPCA animal centres will be hosting open houses on Saturday, April 27.

“The open houses are an opportunity for the public to learn more about what the BC SPCA does and see all of the ways we care for animals in our community,” says Adrienne McBride, the BC SPCA’s senior director, community animal centres. “It also gives us a chance to shine a light on some of the amazing animals in our centres who have been patiently waiting for their forever home,” says McBride.

Like Darcy, an exuberant 4-year-old shepherd mix eagerly awaiting a new home. She will thrive with a family that has a fenced yard where she can romp and play to her heart’s content. The BC SPCA says Darcy could use a bit of obedient training but has the potential to be a great dog for older children who can match her high energy.

If your home is more calm and laid back Ladybug might be a perfect fit for you. Ladybug is a 2-year-old cat who while shy at first will quickly never leave your side. Her soft, fuzzy fur can get a little tangled at times but a grooming routine is the perfect opportunity for some quality time together.
