AWAC Gift Drive Underway

The The Association Advocating for Women and Community has launched its annual gift drive.
“This is an annual event that AWAC throws and we hand it out to the women accessing our shelter as well as in the community,” explains Erin Guggenheimer, the Coordinator for Housing Readiness at AWAC. “So we have an [Extreme Weather] outreach jeep that goes out evenings, Monday to Sunday from eight p.m. to one a.m. They go around and hand bags to men and women in the community, who may not be in the shelters or are staying out during the cold season. We’ll hand [the bags] out to them as well.”

*$5 Gift Cards             *Mittens, Socks, Hats
*City Bus Tickets        *Toiletry Bags
*Soft Candies              *Hair Brushes
*Cough Drops             *Tweezers
*Lip Balm                   *Nail Clippers
*Deodorant                 *Combs
*Razors

“Toiletries are always great, but we’s really like to focus on some Chritmasy luxury-like items for our ladies, like chocolates, maybe gift cards. Bus tickets are always great. Things like we’re hoping to get included in a package of other items like socks and hats and mitts.”

Donations can be dropped off (reusable bags preferred) at the AWAC office at 144 George St. by December 20th.
