Founded in 1974, a TUBACHRISTMAS has made its debut in Prince George. Saturday afternoon people from all over Northern B.C gathered to play classic Christmas songs with a tuba at the Pine Centre Mall.

The event was brought to the city by a local high school music teacher Sam Nelles and Prince George Symphony Orchestra tuba player Matt Wood on its 44th anniversary.

“It’s just such a great time. The tuba’s a really misunderstood instrument. People think we just sort of play the basic bottom stuff whereas we’re really capable of playing anything you put in front of us,” said Wood.

Prince George is one of the 7 Canadian cities to participate this year.
