High School Completion Rates On The Rise

Education Minister Rob Fleming is welcoming news that high school completion rates are on the rise in BC.

The greatest gains are among Indigenous and special needs students, but Fleming says more work still needs to be done.

Education Ministry figures show 65.9 percent of Indigenous students were completing high school within six years as of the 2016-2017 school year — a 2.1 percent increase over the previous year.

Students with special needs finished high school last year at a rate of 69.4 percent, but that’s still behind the overall graduation rate of 84 percent.
