PRINCE GEORGE — The federal government announced that $2.2 million dollars will be provided to reduce homelessness in Prince Geroge.

The United Way of Northern BC is responsible for the project management and administering of funds through the Homelessness Partnering Strategy’s Designated Communities stream.

Representatives from the United Way of Northern BC were on hand for the presentation about the organization’s five-year plan to help different local and regional organizations address an ever-growing concern with homelessness.

A homeless count is done in the spring and, in 2014, the number of people who were identified as homeless jumped to 205 two years later.
