Truck Fire Closes Highway 97 North Of Hixon

PRINCE GEORGE – Highway 97 south of Prince George was closed in both directions Friday morning.  The closure was caused by a logging truck that caught fire around 7:30 am. RCMP were able to reopen the highway to a single lane, alternating traffic shortly after 8:00 am.

The incident occurred about 7 kilometres north of north of Hixon.  Traffic was lined up in both directions while emergency crews dealt with the situation.

RCMP say no one was trapped by the fire and no injuries were sustained by those involved. It’s not clear what initiated the fire.

Update

This morning’s vehicle incident, north of Hixon, is now clear.
