PRINCE GEORGE – The Central Interior Science Exhibition was held Saturday afternoon at the University of Northern BC. Prince George, Quesnel and the Nechako Lakes School districts participated.

99 projects and 132 students competed at the fair. “Recycled Warmth” is one of the winning projects out of Prince George. Grade 9 student Brett Holland and Grade 8 student Noah Banman teamed up to find an eco-friendly way to turn paper into insulation.

Winner Kassidy Patrick from St Mary’s looked at the effects of carbon dioxide on plants. Grade 8 student Willa Crowley’s winning project found out that predators may affect moose, deer, and elk activity at mineral licks. She hopes future studies will be done on the seasonal activity of predator and prey interactions at salt licks.

These three projects will go on to compete in Ottawa for the Canada-Wide Science Fair in May.
