Local Reaction to Bus Tragedy

PRINCE GEORGE – It’s a tragedy that stretches through the country, and is also being felt locally. Over the past 18 years, Prince George Cougars bus driver Ralph Posteraro has driven his team over 750 thousand kilometres of roads, and he’s sharing in the heart break of Friday’s tragic bush crash involving the Humboldt Broncos hockey team.

Posteraro has been receiving many texts from former players and their families,  reaching out to share in the grief and to simply say thank you for the years he’s spent behind the wheel.  Safety is always top of mind for any bus driver,  whether it be transporting a hockey team,  school group or through Prince George transit.

With over 2 million kilometres of bus travel under his belt, Former broadcaster Ron St Clair admits the news has been weighing heavily,  and hearing that the Broncos play by play announcer perished was devastating as he rode a similar bus for two decades.

Pacific Western Transporation Operations Manager David Wilson says the accident hits home on a personal level for himself and his drivers.  He adds Prince George Transit drivers will be joining a growing movement, wearing jerseys on April 12th to pay tribute and show support to the victims of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash.
