Two Focus Groups In PG
Nov 27, 2017 | 2:03 PM
Researchers from Simon Fraser University are hosting two focus groups in the city this evening and tomorrow evening. They are looking into the ethical questions around surveilling infectious disease and using genetics to do so.
“How you track a disease in a population in order to put up preventative measures to stop the tranmission of the disease. So now we’re using whole genome sequencing to do that,” explains Dr. Diego Silva, Lead Researcher. “But with any type of surveillance, with any type of public health activity there’s a whole host of ethical and political issues.”
If you are interested in participating in the focus groups, you can call: 778-823-4415 or go to chohm@sfu.ca.
The events take place at the Coast Inn of the North.
