PRINCE GEORGE- The Retired Teachers Association won one of three awards at the 2018 Jeanne Clarke Local History Awards. It was given a publication award for the book, Historical Memories. It’s a four-part series that covers the history of about 138 schools, past and present, in School District 57. It took more than 33 contributors to complete the book over about 12 years. The book tells everything from original staff, sports teams, school mascots, and memories from former students and teachers.

The Prince George Public Library hosts the event. Board of Trustee members and a few people from the community help to choose the winners each year. There is a scoring system for each publication, based on scholarship, presentation and audience appeal.

Jay Sherwood also won a publication award for his book, Ootsa Lake Odyssey, and the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George won the service award for its Golden Raven Discovery Pass.
