Prince George – According to a recent study by UNBC Assistant Professor of Environment Studies Dr. Mark Groulx. People who travel to sites which are sensitive to climate change are causing harm to their destination. As people to travel remote place like the Athabasca Glacier in Alberta’s Jasper National Park, they produce greenhouse gas emissions, which heighten climate change, in turn, melts the glacier.
The researched also shows people travelling to these sites are interested in learning about the impacts of climate change. Dr. Groulx says some visitors are finding ways to balance their desire to take part in last-chance opportunities with their desire to do what they can to preserve the site.
