Dog Owners Frustrated By What Horse Riders Leave Behind
PRINCE GEORGE – Pet owners not cleaning up after their dogs has been a contentious issue in Prince George. City Bylaw officers can fine owners up to $300 for neglecting to pick up after their pet. Now, there are much bigger piles being left behind, this time coming from horses.
“With dogs, if you don’t pick up your dog poop you get a fine, and there’s poop scattered throughout the trail, how come they don’t get fines? How come they don’t have the same rules as us?” says Dawn Mueller, Dog Owner.
At the nearby Prince George Horse Society, riders are advised to pick up after their animal.
“People should dismount, and just kick it off into the bush, cause you can’t expect them to carry bags and shovel with them right? So just kick it off into the bush and make it clean for the next people that come along,” says Jason Harasimiuk, PG Horse Society.
