Neighbours Concerned Over 66 Unit Hart Subdivision

PRINCE GEORGE – Five neighbours stood up at city council Monday night against a new housing development just off Chief Lake Road and Foothills Boulevard. The proposed rezoning will facilitate a strata subdivision offering a mix of units for rent and sale.

Residents say they are concerned about the 66 unit development, and whether the nearby Springwood Elementary School could handle an influx of students. Another issue raised was the change the units would bring to the layout of the community: “We bought five acres for privacy and this would greatly affect the privacy at our location,” says Marla Leslie, resident.

Neighbours are also worried about increased traffic congestion. Despite concerns, council voted in favour of the bylaw to rezone the property from Greenbelt to Multiple Residential.

Councillor Murray Krause pointed out some of the benefits of increasing the density in the area: “With more residents, more services will become available”.
