PRINCE GEORGE – Local mounties responded to a series of reports over the long weekend. Some offences were more notable than others, including possible shots fired, a hit and run with a pedestrian and a home invasion assault.

Early Sunday afternoon, RCMP spoke with a woman who thought she heard gunshots on the 400 block of Ogilvie Street. Investigators say while the residence was being cleared for safety, a 34-year-old man was found in possession of a large number of drugs including fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin. Police say charges are possible as the investigation continues.

Late Sunday evening, police responded to an alleged hit and run, when a pickup truck drove up on the sidewalk and struck a pedestrian with a side mirror. It happened in the area where Queensway becomes Ferry Avenue. The pedestrian had appeared to have minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. Later on, a 46-year-old man was found and arrested who are believed to be responsible. The suspect had double the legal limit for alcohol and has been banned from driving for 90 days. His court appearance is scheduled for late September.

Yesterday, 41-year-old local man, Leif Birch Myltoft was arrested and faced three charges consisting of break, enter and commit, assault and mischief under $5000. This happened after police received a report of a home invasion assault at a home on the 300 block of Carney Street. Myltoft appears in court on Tuesday. So far this year, he has had almost 100 contacts with RCMP.
