PRINCE GEORGE- As Americans celebrate the Fourth of July, Prince George can celebrate a strong tourism season thanks to our neighbours from the South. Tourism Prince George says there are about 500 American tourists that come through our city every year and that number is growing. “We’ve seen the Washington market grow 60% over the past two years, and California has grown about 44% in the past two years,” says CEO Erica Hummel. Tourism PG has seen an increase in travellers from the States over the past three years, Hummel suggests that may be due to politics. “When Trump was just elected, we got loads of them, it’s just starting to even out now.” That’s good news for our local economy as those tourists stop at our restaurants, autobody shops, and campsites. “They are extremely valuable, Americans are coming up every year, and it’s so important for our economy,” adds Hummel,”it’s nice to have that stable market that we can rely on throughout the summer months.”
