Unemployment Rates Low In PG

Prince George continues to post some of the lowest unemployment numbers in BC.

That’s according to Stan Mitchell with KPMG, who says on a monthly moving average, Prince George’s unemployment rate is 4.1 percent. That’s slightly below the provincial rate of 4.9 percent.

Also, the StatsCan figures show that 3,600 people entered the workforce over the past year.

“Stats Canada is reporting that the population of Prince George is pretty much staying the same,” says Mitchell. “That’s showing you that people are coming here, they’re finding jobs. And when you have people moving into the labour force, they’re finding jobs as well.”
