Register Your Bicycle To End Bike Theft
PRINCE GEORGE – Wednesday kicks off a series of bike registration events this month, in order to reduce the number of bike thefts in the city and return those that are stolen to its owner.
The Wednesday event will take place in the Canadian Tire parking lot from 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm. The next events are: July 15th from 10 am to noon in the parking lot of the Pidherny Recreational area for a Pidherney Enduro event, a second event on the 15th from 11 am to 5 pm at the Canada Games Plaza for Downtown Summerfest, the third event on July 15th is in the evening from 6 – 8 pm for the Pidherney Pump Track Challenge in the Pidherny Recreational area, and lastly, on July 21st from 10 am to 1 pm in the Otway Recreational area. More details can be found online.
Bike owners are asked to attend one of the events to have their bike registered for free by the bike registration crew, consisting of local RCMP and volunteers. All you have to do is provide information such as ownership details, serial number and photos of the bicycle. If your bike is stolen, that information can be sent to other registered bikers through an alert notification on the smartphone app. It can also be provided to police and insurance companies.
If you register your bike, you’ll also be entered to win a Norco Storm mountain bike and the draw will be made at the end of the biking season.
