PRINCE GEORGE – The City is moving ahead with its new Healthy City framework.

It identifies seven goals to build upon the City’s participation in the MyPG document that was completed in 2010. Those goals are:
Affordable and accessible housing, civic pride, cultural richness, equity and inclusion, health and wellness, safe environment and strong neighbourhoods.

“A healthy city is really a city where people can be included, can feel equal, can enjoy their neighbours, can be physically active,” explains Chris Bone, the Manager of Social Planning. “In terms of the Healthy City framework, health really encompasses quality of life in every sense of the word.”

The framework sets out a long list of actions to meet those seven goals, such as encouraging new developments to provide
affordable housing options and access to park and green space, review and update the Public Art Policy, eliminate barriers to physical activity
by advocating for increased access to a range of spaces, pursue local government funding sources that build the capacity of Community Associations and continue to participate as a member of the PG Air Roundtable.
