With A Dramatic Crash Increase In BC, Public Safety Officials Speak Up
BRITISH COLUMBIA – Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General, Mike Farnworth is voicing his opinion on the increased number of crashes in BC recently.
Last year, the Province saw about 350,000 crashes. Too often, speed, distraction and impairment are the top contributing factors cited by police in the worst incidents, where people suffer death or serious injury.
In the first seven months of this year, fatal motor vehicle incidents involving motorcyclists doubled. The BC Coroners Service noted speed and impairment as top contributing factors.
“Serious collisions involving a pedestrian or cyclist seem to happen daily,” Farnsworth pointed out.
