PRINCE GEORGE- Sewing, cooking, and other basic life skills are taught to some in high school but not everyone can remember how to do those basic tasks. “Unfortunately, when we’re in our early twenties we’re often too shy to admit we don’t know how to sew on a button,” said Prince George Public Library teen librarian, Christopher Knapp,”or if they are taught in high school it’s done when we’re so young, we push it off and think we’ll never need this knowledge.” That’s why the library is hosting a number of free workshops called Adulting 101.

Positive Living North community health educator, Kyla Turner, is the speaker for the first session on Tuesday. She will be teaching participants how to spot unhealthy relationships and instil self-confidence. “When we talk about relationships often times we think of dating relationships,” said Turner, “it’s not just our dating lives that need a good relationship, it’s our relationships with our friends, family, and with ourselves.” Turner’s workshop features a number of games and activities relating to healthy relationships.

Everything from mending a button, to meal planning, and finances will be taught every second Tuesday for teens and young adults starting next week.
