RCMP Warn Against Pyramid Scheme

PRINCE GEORGE – If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.  Mounties are warning local residents about something called a “Gifting Circle”.  It seems to offer thousands of dollars to participants.  But in reality, it’s a pyramid scheme. 

New members are expected to pay $5,000 to join, and then go out and get eight others to sign up, providing them with $40,000.  The illegal pyramid scheme has been reported in several cities across western Canada.

Mounties say two women in Maple Ridge were formally charged for running a Gifting Pyramid Scheme earlier this year.
