UNBC Researcher Wins International Research Prize
PRINCE GEORGE – A UNBC researcher has won an award for a proposed study on vitamins d and k2. Dr. Jacqueline Petterson earlier this month picked up the Dr. Wolfgang Hevert Prize in Germany.
Dr. Pettersen is the first researcher in North America to receive the prize since its inception in 2006. It is the second international award for Dr. Pettersen who received the Fritz Wörwag research prize in Berlin last May.
The prize included an endowment of 10,000 Euros and is selected through an independent panel of scientific experts.
“This will be the first study to directly assess the effects of vitamin K2 supplementation in conjunction with vitamin D on cognition,” said Pettersen, a cognitive and behavioural neurologist. The project will build on Dr. Pettersen’s previous work on vitamin D and cognition.
