Getting Chilly For Charity

PRINCE GEORGE – How much money would it take for you to jump into a pool of ice-cold water outside in the snow?

The answer for a few dozen UNBC JDC West team members, alumni, faculty, and community members is $25,000. But they don’t keep the money.

This year the money will go toward four Orthopedic O.R. Video Towers. These allow the doctors to have a clearer crisper video of the surgery they are performing, as well as allowing for faster procedures.

During the event, participants dress up in a costume and jump into the freezing water. Most of the fundraising takes place prior to the event but during it, there is the option to purchase buckets of ice for $50 that gets dumped into the water.

“Part of being a business leader and being part of the business program, it’s very important to give back to the community and being young individuals who are aspiring future business leaders it’s very important for us to start young and to start giving back to the community,” says VP of Logistics Ryan Tretick.

The JDC West team helps to develop the highest calibre of young business professionals while staying involved in the community with events like “Chillin’ for Charity.”
