PRINCE GEORGE – With a moment of silence and a memorial in the Wintergarden at UNBC to honour the 14 women shot and killed in Ecole Polytechnique in 1989, the 4th annual Inspiring Women Among Us conference has wrapped up.

Co-Organizer Annie Booth says, every time she organizes and hosts the event, she learns something new.

“Having events like this and, it’s not always easy, we’ve had all sorts of presentations that say ‘Let us remember’ and pay attention to what people do to enhance equity and diversity and ensure everybody gets a fair shot.”

One of the speakers at the memorial was Justin Foster, a self-proclaimed feminist. He says he believes much has changed in the world of post-secondary since 1989.
